In 1st Peter 2:11-18 the Apostle Paul wrote, Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the Soul; *Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your Good Works, which they shall behold, Glorify GOD in the Day of Visitation.
*Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the LORD’S sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; *Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by HIM for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. *For so is the Will of GOD, that with Well Doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: *As free, and not using your liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the Servants of GOD. *Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear GOD. Honour the king. *Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
Here the Apostle Peter is very earnest in his effort to get the Saints to pay attention to what he is telling them.
As it was then, so it is today; People are Reading your Actions and Deeds more than the Holy Scriptures.
Peter most definitely did not approve of protesting against The Government because it is NOT the Will or Desire of the FATHER for the Saints to partake in such disorder.
Some people may think it is OK to do so, but it is most definitely NOT Biblical.
In fact, It Is Written of Jesus, that He did NOT Raise His Voice in the streets and He is the Example of how the Saints are to conduct themselves.
Also 1st Peter 2:21 states, For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an Example, that ye should Follow His Steps.
The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:17 wrote, This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk NOT as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, The Saints of GOD are NOT to Pattern their lives after the world or other religions but after Christ. Because to Walk or Live in such a way is NOT profitable to them or anyone else.
In Romans 13:1-3 & 5 the Apostle Paul wrote, Let every Soul be Subject unto the Higher Powers. For there is NO Power but of GOD: the Powers that be are Ordained of GOD.
*Whosoever therefore resisteth the Power, Resisteth the Ordinance of GOD: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. *For rulers are NOT a terror to Good Works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then NOT be afraid of the Power? Do that which is Good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: **Wherefore ye must needs be Subject, NOT only for wrath, but also for Conscience Sake.
If the Saints deny or refuse to Obey the Powers (the local government) that be; in essence, they are denying GOD because He is the one that Allows them to exist.
The New International Version reads like this: “Everyone MUST Submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which GOD has Established. The authorities that exist have been Established by GOD. *Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is Rebelling Against what GOD has Instituted, and these who do so will bring judgment on themselves. *For rulers hold NO terror for those who Do Right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then Do what is Right and he will commend you. **Therefore, it is Necessary to Submit to the Authorities, NOT only because of possible punishment but also Because of Conscience.”
The Conscience that the Saints are to be concerned with are those Souls that are lost and on their way to a devil’s Hell. If the Souls of the lost are Watching you and they see you Doing things that you should NOT be doing, they may Follow your Example.
We read in 1st John 2:6, He that saith he abideth in Him aught himself also so to Walk, even as He Walked.
If we confess that we are Saved/Born Again; In, Through and By the Precious Shed Blood of Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of GOD then, we need to be a Righteous Example - even as Jesus was and is.
One Scripture says it like this, As He is, so are we in the world. 1st John 4:17
Think about this for a moment. How is Jesus right now? Isn’t He at the Right Hand of the FATHER?
If that be the case, we are to be at the Right Hand of the FATHER too. And if we are at the Right Hand of the FATHER, we should be Living a Righteous Life According to Scripture, the Written Word of Truth, the Bible.
In Titus 2:7-8 we read, In ALL things Showing thyself a Pattern of Good Works: in Doctrine Showing Uncorruptness, Gravity, Sincerity, *Sound Speech, that can NOT be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having NO evil thing to say of you.
If as a Child of GOD we Conduct our lives According to the Written Word of Truth, the Bible; we can NOT go wrong; we will be a Good Example.
The Apostle Paul in Philippians 2:5-7 wrote, Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: *Who, being in the Form of GOD, thought it not robbery to be Equal with GOD: *But made Himself of NO reputation, and took upon Him the Form of a Servant, and was Made in the likeness of men:
Jesus was and is the Son of GOD made flesh; and we, the ones Washed in His Precious Blood; are flesh being Made the Sons of GOD. Praise His Holy and Righteous Name!
We were Created in the Image of GOD and because of the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus; we are Made Joint Heirs with Him. Praise His Holy Name!
We are Required, by the Written Word of GOD, to "put OFF the Lust of the Flesh, the Lust of the Eyes, and the Pride of Life" Ephesians 4:22 and 1st John 2:16; and to "put ON the New Man" Colossians 3:9; and to "put ON the Body of Christ" 1st Corinthians 12:27; and to "put ON the Mind of Christ" 1st Corinthians 2:16.
If we will daily adjust our Walk with the Lord, According to these Requirements, we will be an Example unto Righteousness.
King Solomon in Proverbs 24:21 wrote, My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle NOT with them that are given to change:
If you are a person that is given to change, how can anyone depend on you?
However, if you are a person that is Steadfast in the things that you say and do; people will then be able to more than likely depend on what you say.
The New International Version reads like this: “Fear the LORD and the king, my son, and do NOT join with the rebellious.”
In 1st Timothy 4:12 the Apostle Paul wrote, Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an Example of the Believers, in Word, in Conversation, in Charity, in Spirit, in Faith, in Purity.
When you are a person of Honor; then, the life that you live Validates the things that you Believe and say; then, others will be more likely to trust what you tell them.
We read in Titus 3:1, Put them in mind to be Subject to Principalities and Powers, to Obey Magistrates, to be ready to every Good Work.
It is not only the Duty of the Ministry, but also the Laity to Remind Fellow Believers of, and Encourage them to Do, those things that are Right and Pleasing in the Eyes of the LORD.
The New International Version reads like this: “Remind the people to be Subject to Rulers and Authorities, to be Obedient, to be Ready to Do whatever is Good.”
In St. Matthew 23:1-3 we read, Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to His Disciples, *Saying, The Scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ Seat: *ALL therefore whatsoever they Bid you Observe, that Observe and Do; but do NOT ye after their works: for they say, and do NOT.
When it comes to some Ministers and some Believers, in general that do NOT live a Christ like life, you can NOT afford to follow their Example.
However, if they Speak According to the Written Word of GOD, the Bible; then, by all means Say and Do likewise, and encourage others in those things that are Right and Pleasing in the Sight of GOD.
