Sermons - Book 1

Ignorance is a lack of knowledge or experience.

I have often heard it said, “Ignorance is bliss.”

However, it has been my experience, as a former Criminal Investigator and Officer of The Court, that for most Judges, ignorance is not a valid excuse.

The Bible states that at one time God winked at ignorance but NOW, He calls for ALL mankind to REPENT or change their way of doing.

The Apostle Paul in Romans 12:1-2 said, I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. *And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Here, Paul is trying to emphasize that there is a GREAT need that the Saints of God put away everything that pertains to the Lust of The Flesh, the Lust of The Eyes and the Pride of Life and get serious about serving God. He also states that what he is asking them to do is not unreasonable but it is expected and required.

One might say, “If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish and taste like a fish surely, it must be a fish.”

Therefore, the question is, “Do you still look like, sound like and act like the world or do you look like, sound like and act like a Child of God, a Saint?”

The Prophet Hosea in Hosea 4:6 had this to say, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

The sad thing about it is many people are willingly ignorant. I have often found that even so called Christians to not want to hear the Truth. Possibly, because they think, if they don’t know what they are suppose to do or say or not do or say, they won’t be held accountable. However, we know from previous Scriptures that this is not true.

I have actually heard people say, “I don’t want the Pastor to come to my house, observe how I live and tell me what I am doing wrong.”

In fact, I went to visit a man and wife, who were Pastors of a Church in a town where I used to live, to discuss a certain Biblical issue. In the process of the discussion one of them said, “Have you come here to set us right and tell us where we are wrong?” My response was, “No, I have just come to discuss this topic with you.”

Then, one of them said, “We don’t come to your house and tell you what you are doing wrong.” To which my response was, “Why not? If I’m doing something wrong, someone needs to let me know so, that I can have the opportunity to correct the problem.”

Here is the Scripture I previously referenced where the Apostle Paul in Acts 17:30 said, And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent:

In Titus 2:11-12 the Apostle Paul goes on to say, For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, *Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Hallelujah! Isn’t it wonderful that the Heavenly Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit through the Biblical Message written by the Apostles and Prophets of old, has shown to us today the things that are required of us to become a Child of God, through the Precious Blood of Jesus His Holy and Righteous Son, and has given us a record, if you will, of how we are to live.

This, my friends is Good News. Praise His Holy Name!

In Ephesians 4:17-18 the Apostle Paul warns the Saints by saying, This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, *Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

We will not have an excuse to say, "You never mentioned Him or the word of God to me.”

All of us have a Biblical record, from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, and there are Ministers in every corner of the World that proclaim these Words of truth. Personally none of us have an excuse not to share the God's truth with others or to be found in the DARK concerning God's Word.

King David in Psalms 81:11-13 said, But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. *So I gave them up unto their own hearts' lust: and they walked in their own counsels. *Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!

It has been said, “There is none so blind than he that will not see and there is none so deaf than he that will not hear.” You can be sure that God will let you have your own way and be damned.

In 2nd Thessalonians 2:11-12 the Apostle Paul said, And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

God does not want anyone to be Eternally Lost. He wants everyone to come to Repentance and be Saved.

Surly, it must grieve the heart of the Lord to see the things people are doing today and the condition this world is now in!

The Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 14:37-39 had this to say, If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. *But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant. *Wherefore, brethren, covet (desire) to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

In another Scripture Paul said, I lie not; I speak the Truth in Christ Jesus.

If people do not want to hear and/or believe the Truth, it’s their choice, it’s their privilege. But this is one decision that a person will have to give account for and be responsible for.

In the Ten Commandments we are admonished not to covet anything that belongs to belongs to someone else but here, the Apostle Paul instructs that we are advised to covet to prophesy and in another Scripture, he says we should covet the Best Gifts.

We are not to covet the things that belong to another person but, we can and are encouraged to covet the things of God. This is because He, God, wants us to be ALL that we can be to His Glory and Praise.

We are cautioned by the Apostle Paul in Acts 13:40-45 to, Beware therefore, lest that come upon you, which is spoken of in the prophets; *Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and perish: for I work a work in your days, a work which ye shall in no wise believe, though a man declare it unto you. *And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. *Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. *And the next Sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God. *But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

There are those that like to think of themselves as being righteous yet, they do not obey the Word of Truth. For this cause, the Scriptures state that fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites (Isaiah 33:14).

In Psalms 19:7-13 we read, The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. *The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. *The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. *More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. *Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. *Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. *Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

There is no need to fix or change something that is PERFECT. It’s by and through the Blood of Jesus that we are SAVED.

However, it is by observing God’s Commandments, Laws, Precepts, Statutes and Judgments that brings about changing the way we live our lives. And it is The Holy Ghost that gives us the POWER to do His Perfect Will so, that we can change from Glory to Glory so, that when He, Jesus comes, we will be like Him. Praise His Holy and Righteous Name!

We need the ENTIRE Word of God to correct and direct us in our daily lives. A righteous person, who we are supposed to be, does not even want to accidentally do anything wrong. When I pray at night before I go to sleep, I sometimes tell the Lord that I don’t want to even sin in my dreams.

Sin is sin dear ones and sin will keep a person from entering into God’s Heavenly Kingdom.

In Romans 10:2-4 the Apostle Paul said, For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. *For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.*For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

There are many today that seemingly have a passion for observing and sharing the Written word of God. But all too often their efforts are in vain, (without real profit) because they are observing and proclaiming the Traditions of Men or a specific Church and not the Truth according to the Written Word of God.

The phrase, “Jesus is the end of the law for righteousness,” simply means that nothing can be added to the law (for righteousness) after Jesus came on the scene.

In fact, in the Book of Revelation 22:18 states, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.

The next verse says, If any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

The Apostle Peter confirms the words of Paul regarding the END of THE LAW in 1st Peter 1:9 where he says, Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Jesus is the Word of God made flesh and we are flesh being made the Sons of God. Praise His Holy and Righteous Name!

In closing, let’s take a look what the writer of the Book of Hebrews has to say in Hebrews 9:26 (in part), Now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

If Jesus came in the End of The World, and that was around three thousand years ago, where do you suppose we are today? This would indicate to me that TIME is getting very SHORT.

Therefore, we need to stop playing around or toying with serving God and get down to SERIOUS business of knowing and serving Him.
