Naked

Naked is defined as being without a covering or unclothed.

Adam & Eve saw their nakedness; once their eyes were opened to the knowledge of good and evil. It also can mean that when something is OPEN, it can’t be hid.

In Genesis 3:9-11 we read, And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? *And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. *And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

If you were alone, in your home and had just gotten out of the shower and before you could put your robe on, someone you weren’t expecting entered your home; you would no doubt endeavor to conceal yourself from view, because you were naked. This is a reasonable thing for a person to do in this circumstance.

However, prior to Adam and Eve disobeying the instructions of the Lord, they had no knowledge that they were naked. Evidently, one element or symptom of sin brought the knowledge of one being naked.

This was an unusual state or condition for Adam and Eve to see themselves in. That is why they tried to hide from God. One Scripture states: “Be sure your sins will find you out." Numbers 32:23

The Prophet Jeremiah in Jeremiah 13:22-23 said, If thou say in thine heart, Wherefore come these things upon me? For the greatness of thine iniquity are thy skirts discovered, and thy heels made bare. *Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

Sin opens the door and reveals who you are.

There’s a saying that goes something like this: "As a man is, so shall he be." King Solomon in essence said, “As a person thinketh in their heart, so are they.”

Whatever is in a person’s heart, is what they are likely to do. If you are one that compromises, in observing the Commandments and Laws of God, you are most likely to continue doing so.

The only way a person can effectively change their way of life, is to ask God for Christ sake to forgive them for doing wrong and repent (change.)

In Job 26:6 the Prophet Job said, Hell is naked before him, and destruction hath no covering.

What Job was saying here is that there isn’t anything that can be hid from God. Even people that are in the grave are visible to Him.

Back when my dad was a young man he said they use to "hell" potatoes (bury or cover them up in the ground) so they would last through the winter.

In Ezekiel 23:28-30 we read, For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated: *And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms. *I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.

If all of a sudden you lose your job (income/lively-hood) and you can’t pay the mortgage on your home and wind up on the streets, homeless, you have, in a sense, been left naked and bare.

Jesus is the only covering that mankind has wherewith their nakedness can be properly covered.

In Exodus, 32:25 we read, And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

This Scripture is not saying that all of the people were in the nude, but that they were doing things that God would not approve of. A person’s actions or lack of proper actions will cause them to appear naked.

The Prophet Hosea in Hosea 2:2-3 wrote, Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts; *Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst.

There are many men and women that are duly married that are not a husband or a wife. There’s an old saying that goes something like this, “If it looks like a duck, acts or walks like a duck and sounds like a duck, it must be a duck.”

If a person says that they are married and does not act, look or talk like they are married, it leaves one to wonder if, in fact, they are really married. This same example goes for so called Christians.

In Ezekiel 23:13-18 the Prophet Ezekiel wrote, Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way, *And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, *Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: *And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.

*And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them. *So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister.

When a person is suppose to be a Christian/Saint, they should not meditate (dote) on anything that is not Christ-like. When a person gets too close to smoke they will come out smelling like smoke.

King Solomon said it like this, “Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?" Proverbs 6:27

In Habakkuk 2:15 we read, Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!

As Children of the Most High God, we should endeavor to not put a stumbling-block in front of anyone especially, a Saint, a Brother or Sister in the Lord.

In Revelation 16:15 the Angle of the Lord told John, Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.

We have a fair warning dear-ones that we must pay attention to and it will take some effort, on our part, to maintain a righteous life before the Lord.

In essence, the Word of God in 2nd Peter3:14 states that Jesus is coming back for a Perfect People. I hear people say that mankind can’t be perfect. But neither God, nor Jesus, have ever ask or told the Saints to do anything that could not be done.

Mankind, in himself, can’t be perfect; but with God ALL THINGS are made possible, St. Matthew 19:26, St. Mark 10:27 and St. Luke 18:27. Praise His Holy Name!

The Apostle Paul in 2nd Corinthians 5:1-3 said, For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. *For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven: *so be that being clothed we shall not be found naked.

Whatever a person earnestly desires they will generally put forth more effort to obtain.

Let me encourage you to continue on to know and serve the Lord with ALL your Spirit, Soul and body.
