Relationship

ACTS - Published Nov/Dec 2011

Let’s take a look at some of the definitions and/or meanings of the word, Relationship ~

The Word, Relationship relates to:

1) The state of being related to or interrelated...

2) That which connects or binds participants in a relationship: as a kinship...

3) The way in which two or more people talk to, behave toward, and deal with each other...

4) The way in which two or more people are connected...

Now let me say it like this: “When you have a relationship, you have to do for someone else.”

The Apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 2:16 wrote in part, "We have the Mind of Christ."

If we as the Children “Saints” of the Most High God have the Mind of Christ, then we should think, say and do things as He would.

When Jesus first started His Ministry; when He, His mother and others were at a marriage feast; Mary told those serving at the Feast, “Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it” St. John 2:1-11, (vs. 5).

These are the same instructions that we as Saints have today; we are to live our life as Jesus would live it.

In Romans 15:2 the Apostle Paul wrote: “Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.”

Like I said in the beginning, “When you have a Relationship, you have to do for someone else” not just for yourself.

Relationships are not all about “me” or “you” it’s about everyone that we come in contact with, especially to those that we want to have close to us. Therefore, we need to know “find out” what it is that we can do for others and then we need to do it as if we were doing it for Jesus and our Heavenly Father.

We read in St. Matthew 22:39: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” see also St. Mark 12:31 and St. Luke 10:27. Here is where the Golden Rule applies, “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” One Scripture says that no man ever hated himself or in other words, no man/woman seeks to deceive, hurt, or destroy themselves.

The Apostle Paul in Ephesians 4:17-25 wrote: “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But ye have not so learned Christ; If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.”

Ignorance is nothing more than not knowing, therefore, it is very important for the Saints to read, study and meditate on the Written Word of the Lord, the Bible. A person that says that they are a Believer in Jesus and does not do that which He says we should do is deceiving their self.

If a person does not have a Bible that may be excusable, however, if they do have a Bible and they do not read it every day, they have no one but their self to blame for not knowing the Truth.

Try thinking about putting off the old man and putting on Jesus like taking off dirty clothes and taking a bath in order to be clean and then putting on clean clothes. If a person just takes off their dirty clothes and then puts on clean cloths without taking a bath, they will still be dirty and they will still stink. We are to wash our self “our Soul” in the Water of His Word, the Bible. His Word makes us Clean and then we will be able to have Right Relationships.

We read in James 2:8: “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.” The Royal Law is the Ten Commandments along with ALL of His Commandments, Laws, Judgments, Precepts and Statutes; in other words, Every Word that Proceeds from the Mouth of the Lord.

Here again, the Golden Rule applies, we should always do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Let’s take this thought a little bit further and say it like this: We should think, say, and do, what the Lord has written in His Holy Word, the Bible, if we want and expect Him to think, say, and do, all good things for us.

In Galatians 5:14 the Apostle Paul wrote: “For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

Love is also considered to be Charity, see I Corinthians 13:4-8: “Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doeth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things; charity (or love) never faileth.”

Relationship is this kind of Love; it is acceptable with God.

The Apostle Paul in 2nd Corinthians 6:14-18 wrote: “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”

I don’t think anyone would try to breed a horse with a cow, or a dog with a cat, or a living human being “Soul” with a dead person “Soul” that is in the grave. This may sound ridicules but that is exactly what some people are doing when they seek to have Intimate Relationship with unbelievers/sinners.

In Judges 2:2 we read in part, “Ye shall make no league with the inhabitants of this land.” God from the beginning has forbid His Children “who are the Saints” from intermingling with sinners.

If you therefore go against His Plan, then we can expect to receive the same reward “punishment” as the sinners. One Scripture says, If the blind lead the blind, they both shall fall in the ditch, see St. Matthew 15:14 and St. Luke 6:39.

We read in Exodus 34:12-16: “Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do sacrifice unto their gods, and one call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice; And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.”

The first thing that you need to know here is that you are instructed to “Pay Attention” to how you live your life. There are many Deceivers in the world and some of them live around you and they would like nothing more than to pull you down to their level and see you miss out on Entering into the Kingdom of God, and His Son Jesus.

We MUST be on guard at all times that we do not enter into wrong Relationships; this also includes business deals. We need to know that there is a Righteous change in the life of a sinner before we even consider starting up a Relationship.

Just like we know the difference between an apple and banana, we will know other people by their FRUITS, the way they “live, speak and do.”

The Prophet Ezra in Ezra 9:2 wrote in part: “They have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands.”

If you have ever planted a garden, you may have noticed when you plant some things like a pumpkin and a watermelon too close to each other, the inner fruit colors of the two will intermingle thus, corrupting the quality, texture and color of the fruit.

This is also what can happen when the Saints get into too close of a Relationship with none-believers “sinners.”

The Righteousness of the Believer may diminish over time. This could lead to a Soul losing their Salvation and the Right to enter Into the Kingdom of God.

In Psalms 15:1-5 King David wrote: “LORD who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.”

Only the Righteous, the Saints, will abide in the Tabernacle of the Lord. Righteousness is nothing more than Living by that which is written in God’s Holy Word, the Bible. The Righteous person HATES evil and LOVES Right Living.

We are all too often Hung by our Tongue; in other words, we are held accountable to the words that we speak.

Every word that comes out of the mouth is life or it is death. Therefore, we need to take time to think before we speak. The Righteous Soul does not take advantage of anyone, especially when that person is down on their luck, to do so would be an Improper Relationship.

King Solomon in Proverbs 11:13 wrote: “A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.”

Also in Proverbs 16:28 he wrote: “A forward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.”

And in 1st Peter 4:15 the Apostle Peter wrote in part: “But let none of you suffer as a busybody in other men’s matters.”

A Soul that practices Right Relationships does not GOSSIP about anything. A good thing to remember is, if it doesn’t belong to you, leave it alone.

Good Relationships gender good things and every part of a Good Relationship fits into its proper place in the Body of Christ just like a hand and fingers in a glove that s made to fit.

Therefore, let’s seek Godly Relationships and we will know that we are doing what we are supposed to do.

May the Heavenly Father Richly Bless and Keep you as you Follow on to Know and Serve Him in Spirit and In Truth. Your Faithful Servant in the Lord.
